Career Development / Life Skills
LA CAUSA is committed to exposing our participants to post-secondary career opportunities.
Career Exploration
We strongly believe that having access to these resources results in the self-sufficiency of our participants. LA CAUSA youth has access to paid internship opportunities with local non-profits and corporations, resume/cover letter workshops, mock interviews, and other resources provided by the American Job Centers of California (AJCC), Workforce Development Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), and the South Bay Workforce Investment Act Board (SBWIB).
Life Skills
Our youth engage in weekly life skills classes, which increase awareness and understanding of the resources that are available to them. Topics covered for our life skills curriculum include: physical/mental health, financial literacy, entreprenurship, and social advocacy. The Life Skills curriculum helps youth become actively engaged in the formation of self-determined goals to enhance their personal and professional development.
Additional support is provided to our participants by community members and alumni through our mentoring program, and our partnership with California State University, Los Angeles.
