YouthBuild
LA CAUSA is part of YouthBuild, a national nonprofit organization that works to unleash the positive energy of low-income young people to rebuild their communities and their lives.
With the support of our Educational Partner, John Muir Charter School, LA CAUSA YouthBuild offers individualized, group, and culturally relevant instruction for high school diploma completion. In addition, we offer a GED preparation program that utilizes innovative teaching techniques and advanced computer technology to engage students.
LA CAUSA YouthBuild utilizes construction training as a means to offer youth concrete competencies that lend themselves to addressing the deplorable housing conditions in their community while providing them with a valuable skill set that can help young adults earn a living wage. Our vocational instruction also offers young people the opportunity to develop the community building skills necessary to work within the non-profit sector.
Our Youth Development strategy assigns each participant a Program Manager that supports the development of self-discipline, responsibility, entitlement, empowerment and commitment. We support and assist with personal development of life skills through the creation of individualized action plans carried out in private monthly meetings. Weekly trainings are provided that emphasize the development of leadership. In sum, by providing an encouraging and supportive community through the coaching of youth, LA CAUSA is committed to helping participants become actively engaged in the formation of self determined goals and in creating and implementing consequential activities to address community needs.
