Miguel Rodriguez

Miguel Rodriguez, a resident of East Los Angeles, has been involved in political and cultural community organizing for more than ten years as a response to a personal experience he encountered due to anti-immigrant legislation in the late 90's. Since then, Miguel has been involved in an array of issues impacting communities of color. Miguel has volunteered to build potable water systems and community clinics in the mountainous regions of Mexico. He also organized exchanges between indigenous people in Mexico resisting Globalization and people of color from the US. After his stay in Mexico, he moved to New Orleans where he was a part of a grassroots community based grant-making program. Miguel was involved in efforts to establish monthly community dialogues between community organizers, union members and students to address the needs of the community. While in New Orleans he also became involved in efforts to challenge the Prison Industrial Complex. Since coming back home to East LA, Miguel has been working with LA CAUSA YouthBuild, where he is currently the Program Coordinator.
